Anna Louise

Anna Louise

Hi everybody! It's Anna's mommy stepping in to give you an update. I don't think Anna will mind! ;)

It seems like the changes are coming fast and furious now that Anna is six months old. She can easily roll over and prefers to be on her tummy most of the time for sleeping and playing. Quite a change from the screaming which would occur during tummy time not long ago! Anna can also stay sitting up for a good length of time, as long as she doesn't try to look behind her shoulder. Then she may topple over!

Anna's early Mother's Day gift to me was sleeping through the night for the first time May 12. She's been very close numerous times in the past, but none that I felt we could officially count. So, she slept through the night Friday and Saturday nights, but then started teething in earnest so she's back to waking once or twice again. Oh well--poor girl is in pain (I can tell by her cries) so I don't mind getting up to comfort her. Orajel helps immensely!

So much in life I have taken for granted I now see in a new way thanks to Anna's curiosity about the world around her. At the Tulip Festival she was mesmorized by the parade and watched it all intently, though it went on for far over an hour. That night, she noticed the bright moon and the stars in the clear, evening sky and gazed at those intently as well. Sometimes when I first lift her out of bed in the morning she carefully studies my face and smiles, like she hasn't noticed me before.

Another favorite subject of Anna's is Saskia ... whenever Sas is around Anna can't take her eyes off her!! When Anna sees Saskia after a day or two of being away, Anna babbles non-stop as if to catch up with her on all she's been up to lately. It's very sweet!

I have a couple songs I like to sing to Anna, which usually make her smile. These words go to "Baby Shark":

Annaboo do do, do do
Annaboo do do, do do
She is cool do do, do do
My Annaboo do do, do do

She's a sweetie do do, do do
Oh yes indeedy do do, do do
Annaboo do do, do do
Annaboo do do, do do

She's a doll do do, do do
She's two feet tall do do, do do
Annaboo do do, do do
Annaboo do do, do do

Lately, because Anna likes to blow raspberries so much, I'll sing "Wheels on the Bus" and add ...

The Annas on the bus go pbbbtt pbbbtt pbbbtt
Pbbbtt pbbbtt pbbbtt
Pbbbtt pbbbtt pbbbtt
The Annas on the bus go pbbbtt pbbbtt pbbbtt
All through the town!!

Usually either of those songs will stop her fussing and result in a smile!!

Well, I will stop here for now. I will try to make these updates a more frequent occurence, promise!
